What I Believe

Heather Hart's Belief Statement

Have you ever wondered exactly what someone believed? Like, someone shared something about them on Facebook and before you forwarded it you wanted to make sure you knew where they stood?

I have.

So I wanted to make sure I offered that on my site. If you don’t know me, if this is your first time here, or if you just need to know, here’s what I believe. If you still have questions, feel free to contact me.

I Believe in the Bible

I believe the Bible is the true Word of God and is important for all of life. That the Bible is correct, and that if it says something is wrong then it is wrong.

(But, seriously, don’t start with the whole mixed fabric thing. There’s a verse for that, too. Acts 21:17-26)

I Believe in the Trinity

I believe that there is only one God who eternally exists in three persons: God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

I Believe We All Need Jesus

I believe that everyone (except Jesus) has sinned and needs a Savior. And I believe that Jesus is that Savior.

I believe that we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

I Believe Jesus Died Once For All Sins, But We Still Need Him Every Day

I believe that, as Christians, we are called to set ourselves apart and live a holy life, but that we don’t become perfect when we are saved. I believe that even after we become Christians, God continues to work in us.

That said, I do not believe that it’s okay to use salvation as a free pass to continue to sin. The love Jesus has for us should compel us to live out our love for Him.

I Believe in Grace and Truth

I believe that there is an important balance of truth and grace. (See John 1:17) One of my old pastors explained it by saying, “Truth hates sin, grace loves sinners… But truth without grace crushes people, and grace without truth deceives people.”

I believe that we are to love and encourage one another and treat each other respectfully. Not gossiping or arguing, but controlling our tongues.

So that’s what I believe in a nutshell. If you still have questions, I do hope you’ll reach out and let me know.
